I gave this (and the similar 4" X 5" model) to science-inclined 5 and 8 year old relatives. It was enthusiastically accepted by them and by their parents as intriguing, safe gifts. These were slightly more expensive than cartoon-emblazoned competitors, but kid's appreciation of the quality was apparent, and I thought these would be used as much immediately as the cheap 'child' versions, also with the degree of interest exhibited by the kids, I thought that these would be useful and treated respectfully well into or past the young folk's college years.Adults wanting a magnifier will find these to be of excellent handling and optical quality as well. I gave this model, with the hanger on the handle, to a very active and distractable 5yo. So far during play, the hangar has let him leave the magnifier at places which would remind him to return it to its appointed storage spot at the end of use. So far, it has not been misplaced for long.

I debated whether to give this three or four stars. The only negative is that it does not magnify images 3X. It has more like 1½X magnification. On the positive side, the lens magnifies without noticeable distortion of the image. Also, the frame really protects the lens well. It seems to be made of a flexible silicon, and the lens is set deep in the frame from both sides. The hook is handy if you want to hang the magnifier.

I got this for my husband to use in the kitchen so he wouldn't always be searching for his reading glasses to look at a label. He LOVES it! He says it works really well and loves that it's always hanging nearby--no more searching for where he laid his cheaters.

These are great. I mistakenly ordered a double order, but they make good gifts. I keep one by my kitchen counter and one by the bathroom medicine cabinet.

Just a bit smaller as I imagined from judging the scale to other items in the pictures. However, it is sturdy, and not flimsy and hard-to-hold like wallet magnifiers. This will still work for quick reference of small print to keep near bedside, end-tables... The beefy frame will keep lens from getting easily scratched.

pretty good magnification...& the hanger is handy for keeping it on a hook inside the door of the medicine cabinet so you can read that small print on the prescription bottles.

This is a handy gadget to have around. I keep mine hanging on a hook in my kitchen cabinet. For some reason, it is the one room where my husband seems to forget his glasses. It is also convenient for when my son brings in a treasure from outside that he wants to examine more carefully.The magnification is decent. It will magnify 3 times the normal image. There is a small, inserted lens that will magnify 5 times normal. The magnifying lens is surrounded with a thick rubber. It helps protect it when dropped and it makes it easy to keep a grip on. The lens is shatter proof which is great if a child wants to use it. One end has a hook so that you can hang it up if you wish. The base of it is wide enough, that it can also stand.This works well. It magnifies without blurring or making my eyes hurt. The magnifier is made well. The rubber is well attached to the lens. It is small enough and light enough that you can easily slip it into a bag to take with you.I was able to purchase this at a discount to test and review. I, in no way, guaranteed a positive review but tested this thoroughly and formed my own opinions.
